This is a supplemental diary about my attempts to lose weight.

I got my flab pinched and my measurements done again.

I finished the 8 week non-membership program at a gym near work. i win!

My thigh measurements didn't change, but i also used some of the weight machines to work them. i suspect muscle took the place of the fat. As for the other measurements:

Chest (above the boobs)- Start: 35in. Finish: 34in.
Hips (at widest portion)- Start: 42in. Finish: 41in.
Waist (over the belly button)- Start: 35in. Finish: 33in.

holy crap. i lost two inches off my waist. sweetness. I also got my body fat measurements done with the calipers. Start: 34.1% Finish: 32.2%. That leaves me only about 2% too high.

i also got weighed, and i only lost a pound over the 8 weeks. but with that kind of fat loss, that's okay with me.

say it with me everybody: WOO!

your goal is to only lose 4%?

why? why not lose enough to not be fat at all?

thank you. by LilFlightTest (4.00 / 3) #8 Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 10:01:38 PM EST
to further answer the question, recommended body fat for women is between 18% and 30%. women go too low, and become infertile.

yeah but "normal" maxes out at 25% by Nigga (2.00 / 0) #20 Fri Jan 25, 2008 at 06:43:02 PM EST
the 25%-30% range is a "healthy" fat rather than obese.

I need to do the dunk tank body fat thing again. My scale does the electrical measurement which seems to be worthless, unless I'm a lot less fat than I feel.

I have lost two pounds over the whole time I have been doing it but there has been some serious re-organisation of my body parts. Sounds like you found the same.

i'm well on my way in the "being less fat" goal. the "being less heavy", not so much. it helps, though, to know that i've actually made progress.
