Diary

Yesterday was our anniversary.

We went out to dinner, nothing big, just Olive Garden. I did have something incredibly delicious though. Steak drizzled with balsamic vinegar on top of fettuccine with spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and parmesan-gorgonzola alfredo sauce. sounds like a lot of flavors, but it was really good. i finished it for lunch today.

we watched the second half of the game, and we could have won, easily, if we hadn't sucked so damn much.

later we need to go get anniversary cupcakes. rather than letting the top tier of our amazingly tasty wedding cake get all weird in the freezer, we shared it with people who were unable to make it to the wedding. in place of the traditional eating of the top tier, we're going to the same bakery to get cupcakes, which contain the same cake and frosting as the actual cake. don't know when we're going to get to that, but we will sometime.

are we where i thought we'd be at our first anniversary? in some ways, yes, in others, no, but i'm very happy with how things have turned out, and expect it to continue for a long long time.

We didn't get enough cake to save any.

we did on purpose. by LilFlightTest (2.00 / 0) #2 Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 03:11:08 PM EST
our baker made it with the assumption that the top would be saved, so his size calculation was based on that.

our wedding was relatively unconventional too.

Yea Anniversaries! by FlightTest (2.00 / 0) #3 Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 03:16:47 PM EST
Although I admit to being a bit perplexed as to why this was posted to the whine cellar.

I can't remember if we had a multi-tier cake for our reception, and in any event, not being much for tradition, we didn't save any.

Expect not only the happiness, but the not being where you thought you'd be, to both continue. Life is after all, what happens while you're busy making other plans.

Congratulations to you and Nick.

because it had started as a whine, and then i changed my mind and posted about something positive instead. let me fix that.

Our cake by ana (2.00 / 0) #4 Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 03:21:22 PM EST
came with a 2nd top tier, to be delivered a year hence. It says something about the cake that toxic "no-cake-for-me" fur wanted some for the anniversary. We ended up putting half the anniversary cake into the freezer, where it's still waiting for us.

It's not an overstatement I'm making here: "This stuff's yummy!"

"And this ... is a piece of Synergy." He said, pointing at the wedding cake.

on preview, and found it amusing, so I left it. Kellnerin was somewhere in the crowd for that moment.

Year-old wedding cake by houser2112 (2.00 / 0) #13 Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 08:36:06 AM EST
Mrs. Houser2112 bought a special tupperwareish container for the cake, and we ate it a year later as tradition dictates, and it was just as yummy.  The only container worthy to keep the cake fresh enough was about twice as big as we needed, unfortunately.  As good as it was, it was not worth losing all that freezer space the whole time.

and we don't really have freezer space to start with.
